Cascos de Guayaba con Queso: Guava with Cheese
On the same day as my Eggs in Aspic adventure, I threw in another really strange thing for dessert. This one has two ingredients: Guava shells and cream cheese. I sprinkled with mint leaves to make it pretty but really it is just guava shells that come canned (see Amazon) and regular cream cheese that I rolled into balls for appearances. A shell is placed in a dish, the cream cheese is placed in the shell and a bit of the liquid from the can is spooned on top. It is a dessert but one that is EATEN WITH CRACKERS in Cuba. Of course this comes from the 1000 Food list or I would never have given it a try. Honestly, it has the most amazing taste and while the reviews of needing crackers were mixed, the reviews of the guava were not.
